Auswirkungen auf Landwirtschaft und Veterinärmedizin

In dieser Diplomarbeit wird das Thema Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) im Bereich der Landwirtschaft und Veterinärmedizin behandelt. Im Fokus der Arbeit steht ein Online-Fragebogen mit offenen Fragestellungen, der sich an Experten und Expertinnen im Bereich PLF im deutschen Sprachraum wendet: Wie beschreiben diese Forscherinnen und Forscher moralisch wünschenswerte bzw. unerwünschte Anwendungsszenarien von PLF? Als Hypothese ging die Arbeit davon aus, dass sich die Best-Case-Szenarien auf moralische Zielvorstellungen wie „Mehr Tierwohl“ und „Mehr Umwelt- und Klimaschutz“ beziehen, während die Worst-Case-Szenarien vor allem die Rahmenbedingungen der Technikentwicklung (beispielsweise das Risiko von Monopolisierungstendenzen) ansprechen werden. In diesem Punkt würden sich in der Debatte um PLF entscheidende Elemente wiederholen, wie sie in der Diskussion um den Einsatz neuer Techniken beispielsweise im Bereich der Pflanzenzüchtung bereits diagnostiziert wurden. In der Tendenz sieht die Arbeit diese Hypothese als bestätigt an. PLF wird in den Antworten rund um die Best-Case-Szenarien vor allem als Tiermonitoring beschrieben, das (1) permanent erfolgt, (2) sowohl auf das individuelle Tier wie auf die Herde abzielt, (3) vielfältige und zusätzliche Daten liefert und (4) nicht invasiv erfolgt. Die Arbeit nennt darüber hinaus konkrete Ziele, Settings und Konsequenzen von Best-Case- und Worst-Case-Szenarien eines Einsatzes von PLF aus Sicht der befragten Expertinnen und Experten.

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) in the field of agriculture and veterinary medicine. The focus of the thesis is an online questionnaire with open questions, which was addressed to experts in the field of PLF in the German-speaking area: How do these researchers describe morally desirable or undesirable application scenarios of PLF? As a hypothesis, the paper assumed that best-case scenarios will refer to moral objectives such as "more animal welfare" and "more environmental and climate protection", while worst-case scenarios will mainly address conditions of technology development (for example, the risk of monopolization tendencies). On this point, crucial elements would be repeated in the debate about PLF, as they have already been diagnosed in the discussion about the use of new technologies, for example in the field of plant breeding. In tendency, the paper sees this hypothesis as confirmed. PLF is described in the responses around the best-case scenarios primarily as animal monitoring that (1) is permanent, (2) targets both the individual animal and the herd, (3) provides diverse and additional data, and (4) is non-invasive. The paper also identifies specific goals, settings, and consequences of best-case and worst-case scenarios of PLF use from the perspective of the experts interviewed.
